Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about The Distillery Co Fiji, our spirits, and how to experience them

About The Distillery Co. Fiji

Is your liquor truly made in Fiji?

Absolutely. We are a proud "Grass to Glass" distillery. This means we handle every step of the process right here in Fiji—fermenting and distilling our own neutral spirit and rum from the finest local sugarcane, rather than importing base spirits.

What is the history behind the distillery?

While The Distillery Co. Fiji is a modern craft distillery, our roots go deep. Our family's story in Fiji began in the 1860s. Today, we honor that legacy by crafting spirits that celebrate the islands we have called home for generations.

What makes your spirits unique?

It starts with our location. Far from major industrial centers, we use pristine water and sun-drenched Fijian cane. We combine this with fresh botanicals handpicked from local markets and farmers to create small-batch spirits that capture the wild, natural essence of Fiji.

Our Products

What spirits do you currently produce?

Our handcrafted range includes:

  • Blue Turtle Gin: A "Born Wild" gin featuring local botanicals.
  • VulaViti Pure Vodka: The first vodka ever distilled in Fiji.
  • KaloKalo Rum: Available as a Premium White Rum and a Fiji Coconut Rum.
  • Kama Chilli Vodka: A spicy spirit made with Bongo Chillies.
  • LoaLoa Coffee Liqueur: A rich coffee spirit celebrating Fijian beans.
Are your ingredients locally sourced?

Yes. We believe in supporting our community and showcasing the best of Fiji. From the sugarcane that forms the base of our spirits to the fresh chillies, coconut, and botanicals we infuse them with, we source as much as possible from local farmers and markets. We import our junipers as unfortunately they won't grow in Fiji.

Are your products gluten free?

All our products are made from Fijian sugar cane. There are no products containing gluten used in our process.

Do you test your products?

Yes, of course. We rigorously test our products and follow a strict production regime. Our products are sent to Australia and tested in a GCMS every quarter and due to our still fermentation and distillation process we are always significantly under legal requirements.

Is it true Fijian made products contain methanol?

No, professional distillers like ourselves ensure our products do not. Most cases of methanol intake are in East Asia. The reason being methanol is caused by pectin, found largely in fruit. Sugar cane has little pectin and produces relatively low levels of methanol. Even so we remove all traces in our distillation process. Methanol is the result of poor fermentation and lack of correct distillation (home distillers). There has never been a case of methanol intake in Fiji.
